I am a neurodivergent, genderqueer PhD candidate in the Department of Philosophy at the University of British Columbia.

I specialize in Philosophy of Psychology and Psychiatry. My research focuses on articulating the cognitive architecture of our faculty for psychological essentialism. I’m interested in understanding how biogenetic explanations for mental conditions contribute to an increase in stereotyping and dehumanization of neurodivergent individuals. I am also working on designing Research-based Theatre interventions to alleviate this tendency.

I am also working on a number of projects and advocacy initiatives focused on drawing awareness to mental health issues graduate students face resulting from inequitable and exploitative working conditions. The primary goal of each of these projects is systemic change. Our current approaches to addressing these issues are not working.

Projects:

Rock the Boat

I am a research assistant on Rock the Boat (led by Susan Cox and Michael Lee), an open-access, theatre-based resource designed to provoke dialogue about graduate supervision relationships and their impact on mental health.

The Philosophy Exception

I am also a research assistant on The Philosophy Exception (led by Alison Wylie), a database of English-language literature related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic philosophy as a discipline.

Feminist Philosophy Archive Directory

I built, designed, and help maintain the Feminist Philosophy Archive Directory (led by Ann Garry, Marilyn Frye, Alison Jagger, and Sandra Harding), a directory of archives of feminist philosophers and related organizations.

More information is available about these projects here.
